Marianne Gardner — Biography

Marianne’s passion for cooking reaches back as far as she can remember, standing on a chair next to her mother helping her roll out pastry dough. From this excellent base in small town Canada, she spent her lifetime becoming well known for her ability and enjoyment for hosting dinner parties with fabulous food.

In the early nineties Marianne began working in five star restaurants in London, England, then began cooking professionally on sailing yachts in the Mediterranean. After a trans-Atlantic sailboat delivery, she began working as chef on sailing charters in the Caribbean.

She later lived in Honduras and Guatemala where she managed yacht clubs and resorts, including their fine dining restaurants and bars.

In 2001 Marianne began working as a chef onboard motor yachts, and received Yacht and Estate Chef training in 2003. She has since worked on motor yachts up to 153 feet in length worldwide, including as far away places as New Zealand and Acapulco.

She has achieved ongoing acclaim for her ability to “bring it on”, and has won the “Best Dessert” award at the British Virgin Island Charter Broker Show in 2005 with her famous Key Lime Pie.

As well as writing this cookbook, Marianne has had several articles published in The Triton, a Florida based yachting newspaper, and has several more articles pending.

In 1995 she bought her own live-aboard sailboat in Florida, and sailed it single-handed throughout the Caribbean, Central America and the west coast of Mexico. In 2002/2003 she and her partner, Mike McKee, took 8 months to sail across the south Pacific, visiting the Marquesas, Tahiti, Bora Bora, Cook Islands, Tonga, Fiji and New Zealand.
